The Passport funding program is a reimbursement program that helps adults with developmental disabilities in Ontario, 18 years of age and older, to access services and supports. The program is funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) and is managed by Developmental Services Ontario (DSO) and regional Passport Agencies.
Passport Funding can be used for daily living activities and participation in the community such as classes, recreational programs, education, and person-directed planning. It can also be used to hire a support worker and for temporary respite to provide relief for caregivers. The ministry recently expanded the list of eligible expenses in response to COVID-19. Effective April 1st, 2020, important, temporary changes have been put in place for recipients of direct funding under the Special Services at Home (SSAH) and Passport programs.
